Those who dabble in learning a new language sometimes find that alcohol — in moderation — helps them speak more fluently. In a way, that makes sense: It’s been shown that a beer or a glass of wine can lower inhibitions, which may make it easier for some people to overcome nervousness or hesitation.

But on the other hand, alcohol has also been shown to impair cognitive and motor functions, negatively affect memory and attention, and lead to overconfidence and inflated self-evaluations. So do people really speak non-native languages better after drinking, or is that just their liquid courage talking?

To answer that question, British and Dutch researchers conducted an experiment, published this week in the Coach Leather SquareToe Oxfords store clearance outlet store N6JWekC
. And it turns out, people in the study really did speak more fluently after a low dose of alcohol — even when they didn’t think so themselves.

The study included 50 native German speakers who were studying at Maastricht University, located in the Netherlands near the border with Germany. All of the people in the study said they drank alcohol at least sometimes, and, because their classes were taught in Dutch, had recently passed an exam demonstrating proficiency in the language.

Principal data scientist at Zynga @bgweber

I recently changed industries and joined a startup company where I’m responsible for building up a data science discipline. While we already had a solid data pipeline in place when I joined, we didn’t have processes in place for reproducible analysis, scaling up models, and performing experiments. The goal of this series of blog posts is to provide an overview of how to build a data science platform from scratch for a startup, providing real examples using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that readers can try out themselves.

This series is intended for data scientists and analysts that want to move beyond the model training stage, and build data pipelines and data products that can be impactful for an organization. However, it could also be useful for other disciplines that want a better understanding of how to work with data scientists to run experiments and build data products. It is intended for readers with programming experience, and will include code examples primarily in R and Java.

Why DataScience?

One of the first questions to ask when hiring a data scientist for your startup is? At Windfall Data , our product is data, and therefore the goal of data science aligns well with the goal of the company, to build the most accurate model for estimating net worth. At other organizations, such as a mobile gaming company, the answer may not be so direct, and data science may be more useful for understanding how to run the business rather than improve products. However, in these early stages it’s usually beneficial to start collecting data about customer behavior, so that you can improve products in the future.

Some of the benefits of using data science at a start up are:

Many organizations get stuck on the first two or three steps, and do not utilize the full potential of data science. The goal of this series of blog posts is to show how managed services can be used for small teams to move beyond data pipelines for just calculating run-the-business metrics, and transition to an organization where data science provides key input for product development.

Series Overview

Here are the topics I am planning to cover for this blog series. As I write new sections, I may add or move around sections. Please provide comments at the end of this posts if there are other topics that you feel should be covered.

The series is also available as a book in and print formats.

Tooling

Throughout the series, I’ll be presenting code examples built on Google Cloud Platform. I choose this cloud option, because GCP provides a number of managed services that make it possible for small teams to build data pipelines, productize predictive models, and utilize deep learning. It’s also possible to sign up for a free trial with GCP and get $300 in credits. This should cover most of the topics presented in this series, but it will quickly expire if your goal is to dive into deep learning on the cloud.

For programming languages, I’ll be using R for scripting and Java for production, as well as SQL for working with data in BigQuery. I’ll also present other tools such as Shiny. Some experience with R and Java is recommended, since I won’t be covering the basics of these languages.

Introduction (this post):
Lindsay @ Crazy Organized /

Here’s the scoop to what those really organized people do regularly to keep them so organized!

What I lack in operating an oven, I hopefully make up in organizing. I’m not perfect, but I do love it and am intentional about how I spend my time. I came up with 10 ‘principles’ so to speak that I try to follow:

1 Make a List and Check it Twice

FREE your mind ( and the rest will follow ) …. Literally. Yes, we all make to-do lists. That’s a given. But the uber organized write down EVERYTHING. No matter how small in order toget it off theirmind. Yes, you’re smart and yes, you may have an awesome memory. Yet, if you’re taking up space in your mind remembering tiny details, you’re likely not able to focus on the task at hand. Whether you’re an electronic gal like me ( Stuart Weitzman Expo Leather Sandals wide range of YH94J50J
t and Todoist are awesome apps) or a paper gal, have a place where you write down things that pop up. My phone comes with me to bed (and it’s not just because it’s my alarm clock) 🙂 . If it’s on my mind before I go to bed it gets typed in my phone.

and the rest will follow Wunderlis Todoist 2 A Home for Everything

I’m not going to go crazy and say you can’t have a junk drawer or two, but everything in your home should have … well a home. Clutter adds chaos. Not only should everything have a home, but that home should make sense. For example, my coffee cups are in the cabinet directly above my coffee machine so it makes getting coffee in the morning easier (which is fabulous because I drink about 5 cups of coffee a day). I also spend 10 minutes at the end of the day, cleaning out my ‘junk spaces’ and putting those items back in to their home. Although I may allow for a Isabel Marant Arnie Leather MidCalf Boots countdown package online free shipping comfortable outlet manchester great sale buy cheap pay with visa rwnQuBcO
to throw things in, I don’t allow the items to say in there long. Otherwise I really don’t need them … which leads me to #3.

junk basket 3 No Unnecessary Clutter

That old rule ‘if you haven’t used it in 6 months it has to go’ is in full swing. Organized people don’t have unnecessary STUFF hanging around their house that they don’t use, even for that magical ‘rainy day’. Everything has a place and everything has a purpose. As a self declared pack rat, it took me a little while to get onboard with this. When my husband, Joe, and I first moved in together 5 years ago, we both owned our own toasters. I had a nearnervous breakdown when he said we couldn’t keep both. “But if one breaks, then we’ll have an extra” was my justification. Well 5 years later the wining toaster (his) still hasn’t broke. And yes, I got rid of mine. Thus the list of 100 Things to Throw Away NOW was created.

You will be asked to address the anticipated results in your application. If you receive a grant, you will be asked to provide evidence of those results at the end of your project. You will need to describe the participants' learning, the composition of the participant group, and the numbers of participants and activities, as well as the activities used to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge or skills in the arts. If you receive support through the Arts Education discipline for a standards-based project, you will be required to report on additional measurable results, including identifying specific learning outcomes, describing the assessment method, and reporting on the number of participants who demonstrated learning. Before applying, please review the reporting requirements for Learning . In addition to a Final Descriptive Report and Federal Financial Report, Arts Education grantees who apply for a Direct Learning Grant will be required to describe the methods used to assess learning, and they will be required to submit any tools used to assess learning with their Final Report.

please review the reporting requirements for Learning

Support is available for projects that incorporate the arts and design into strategies to improve the livability of communities. Livability consists of a variety of factors that contribute to the quality of life in a community such as ample opportunities for social, civic, and cultural engagement; public safety; affordable housing and ease of transportation; and an aesthetically pleasing environment. The arts can enhance livability by providing new avenues for expression and creativity. Arts- and design-related Livability activities may include:

Please note that certain types of Livability activities will require applicants to provide information in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and/or the order sale online Brian Atwood Dante Platform Pumps cheap price for sale outlet online shop KrfUlcN
. See for more information.

The anticipated long-term results for Livability projects are measurable community benefits, such as growth in overall levels of social and civic engagement; new avenues for expression and creativity; design-focused changes in policies, laws, and/or regulations; job and/or revenue growth; or positive changes in migration patterns. You will be asked to address the anticipated results in your application. If you receive a grant, you will be asked to provide evidence of those results at the end of your project. Given the nature of Livability projects, benefits are likely to emerge over time and may not be fully measureable during the period of a grant. You will need to provide evidence of progress toward achieving improved livability as appropriate to the project. Reporting requirements for Livability are different from -- and more extensive than -- the reporting requirements for the other outcomes. Before applying, please review the reporting requirements for Livability .
